New year, new opportunities

A volunteer cuts the grass at Hardwick

Would you like to join our cast of thousands, bringing Hardwick to life for visitors in 2019?

If you enjoy being with people, love variety and want to keep busy, Hardwick could be the place for you. We're looking more volunteers to join our fantastic existing team who can provide a warm and friendly service, inspiring visitors and helping them to make the most of their day.

From woodworking to story tellers

New volunteering opportunities at Hardwick include woodworking volunteers, helping to create handmade items using timber from the estate, and creative interpreters who are part of the team help to bring the Hall and gardens to life, sharing stories with our many visitors.

These are just an example of the roles available. You can find more by clicking on the volunteering link at the bottom of the page by typing Hardwick Hall into the opportunities search box.

You'll need to be able to use your own initiative and be adaptable, able to respond to different circumstances and enthusiastic about throwing yourself into new ideas and themes.

What our volunteers say

Geoff works in the garden and shares his passion for vegetable growing with visitors.

"I like the fellowship and fun I get from volunteering at Hardwick. I also enjoy working with the Head Chef, to grow herbs and vegetables to use in the restaurant."

Brenda works within a few volunteers teams at Hardwick; Learning, Room Guiding and Living History.

"It feels good to be able to share the history and story of Hardwick in different ways. It’s also great to see students enjoying their visit here and sharing their memories with their families when they make a return visit."
