Hoathwaite to Coniston family cycle trail
If you're staying at the campsite, this is a flat and easy, out and back, family-friendly bike ride along the shore of Coniston Water between Hoathwaite and Coniston Pier.

Start:
Hoathwaite Campsite car park
1
Leave the car park at the top of the campsite and head down the main track towards the lake. Keep left at the split signed for the Raymond Priestly Centre and continue towards the lower camping field. Pass through the gate in the bottom corner of the lower camping field and head left along the lakeshore.
Hoathwaite Campsite
Hoathwaite is one of four National Trust campsites in the Lakes. It's a back-to-basics site with simple facilities but spectacular views across Coniston Water and the Coniston fells.

2
You'll soon pass over a bridge and through a double gate. Continue along the shoreline eventually passing through another gate into Coniston Hall Campsite.
Join the road through Coniston Hall Campsite

3
Continue along the road through the campsite and past Coniston Hall. Approximately 100 yards past the hall leave the road and take the track to your right just after the last barn on the left.

4
Follow this stoney track passing through three sets of gates along the way until you reach a road. Turn right at the road and continue down to the lake shore at Coniston Pier.
Steam Yacht Gondola
The National Trust's steam Yacht Gondola sails from Coniston Pier. Be sure to call back another day for a cruise on this historic boat.

5
Enjoy the sights and sounds at the busy shoreline location. It's a great place to skim stones across the lake, watch the boating activity or treat yourself to coffee and cake at the Bluebird Café. When you're ready, retrace your steps back to Hoathwaite Campsite.
