As part of our contemporary art installation 'The Edge of Things', we're working in partnership with local community groups, businesses and organisations this summer, offering activities inspired by the themes explored in the art. Take a look at what's coming up...

Following a successful year of activities in 2018, the Unlocking the Archive team from UEA, will be back, offering a variety of opportunities to get up close to the books and find out more about our nationally important collection.

Reepham High School exhibition | 3 - 18 July 

This exhibition of Year 10 student's work includes a variety of mixed-media pieces created in response to 'The Edge of Things' and Blickling's historic book collection.

A conversation with Daniela Schmidt | 13 August, 2-4pm 

Meet Daniela Schmidt, climate scientist at the University of Bristol, who has worked closely with Neville Gabie and Joan Gabie on their installation 'A Grain of Sand'. Daniela will be in the Orangery answering questions on everything around climate change and its impacts.

Star gazing at Binham | 2 September 

Join members of the North Norfolk Astronomy Society for a night under Norfolk's big skies. Enjoy at introductory talk to astronomy before having a look through a telescope and learning more about this fascinating subject.

Star gazing at Blickling | 4 October 

We'll be joined by members of the North Norfolk Astronomy Society under Blickling skies for one evening only. Watch film installation 'Carrying the Moon' in the Orangery, listen to an introductory talk on astronomy and take a peek at the night skies through a variety of telescopes. We'd recommend you bring a blanket and a flask to stay cosy.

Reepham Astronomy Evening | 16 October 

Explore Reepham High School's very own observatory at one of their popular astronomy evenings. They will be joined by guest speakers Dr. Robert Myhill and Mark Galloway who will bring the UK’s largest inflatable planetarium, offering people an opportunity to look at the Observatory and, if it’s a clear night, take a peek at the stars.
