Refresh and refuel in the Stableyards

The restaurant

Get your day off to a great start with a full Calke breakfast, a hearty bowl of porridge or a breakfast cob of your choice. Breakfasts are served from 10am to 11.30am.

If you’re out for lunch we have a selection of sandwiches and light bites available throughout the day – or why not try a bowl of our freshly made soup of the day? Keep your little explorers happy with a kids picnic.

Our classic, seasonal main meals are a must if you’re looking for something more filling, served from 12pm to 2.30pm. We use estate-reared meats in our dishes to give you a taste of Calke.

We have plenty of hot and cold drinks if you fancy a cuppa and a slice of cake – enjoy a range of home-baked sweet treats throughout the day.

The café

The café is open during our peak seasons, serving up tasty snacks and drinks to keep you refreshed during your visit.

Choose from a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, light bites including sausage rolls and filled cobs, or home-made sweet treats and cakes.

Locally sourced

Here at Calke, we like to keep things local. A lot of our food is home-grown or reared here on the estate and we try to source everything else as locally as possible.

Our estate-reared meat includes long-horn beef, venison, pork and Portland hogget. We also grow our own herbs, fruits and vegetables in the Physic Garden to use in the kitchen.

Our local suppliers include:

  • Hallifields Farm (an award-winning Calke estate tenant)
  • Heath’s Fruit and Veg (Melbourne)
  • Owen Taylors Butchers (Derbyshire)
  • Tollgate Brewery (Calke – yes, we have our own brewery!)
