We all know how dull and depressing the winter months can be, so we've put together a list of our top things to do, to get you through the darkest days of winter...

When you're battling the blues, a crisp, winter wander in Blickling's garden with a coffee and a slice of cake from one of our cafés could be just what you need. Why not find a secluded spot to sit huddled with a good read from our extensive bookshop?

Join us any day of the week | 10.30am - 4pm

Throughout winter the house, garden, cafés and shops are open every day, so why not take the opportunity to come and explore? Blickling's beautiful parkland is also open daily, dawn - dusk. 

*From 1 January - 10 March 2019 we're open 10.30am - 4pm. The house is open daily from 11am and last entry is at 3pm. Last entry to the garden is 3.30pm.

Imagine a world without books... 

We are currently in the midst of a five-year conservation project to catalogue every book in the library. Containing over 12,500 volumes, the impressive eighteenth century Long Gallery library is the most prestigious book collection held by the National Trust.

The Tower, Norfolk 

Formerly an ornate race stand for the Earl of Buckinghamshire, The Tower now offers the opportunity to experience life in a mini castle. The luxurious accommodation comes complete with a Rapunzel tower and rooftop terrace offering panoramic views across Blickling Estate and the coast beyond. Sleeps 4.

This unique 17th-century cottage sits deep within the Blickling estate. It will come as no surprise that this was once the great house’s dairy, lots of the original features still remain. There’s a secluded garden for al fresco eating, and for cyclists there’s lockable bike storage and enough trails to keep even the most energetic amongst you entertained.

Enjoy some winter colour

It always lifts the spirits to see a splash of colour in the garden. Get inspired for some winter colour in your own garden with a wander around the Dell and Orangery garden, as the snowdrops, early daffodils and hellebores appear.

Get fit

There's plenty of evidence to show how exercise makes you feel better, both mentally and physically, so why not take part in some exercise at Blickling Estate? Whatever your level of fitness, enjoy walking, running and cycling in beautiful surroundings.

Guided estate walks

Would you like to find out more about Blickling's ancient woodland, fascinating landmarks and secrets of the wider estate? This hour and a half stroll is a great way to see some of the most stunning views across the estate and to learn about its incredible history.

Bicycle adventures

Our cycle hub situated at the main car park has everything you need to explore the wider estate on two wheels. Our multi-use trail provides smooth terrain whatever the weather and is a great route for seeing the highlights of Blickling's parkland.

Cycle hire | Daily 

In partnership with British Cycling and HSBC UK we're offering low cost cycle and equipment hire for all ages, making it easier than ever to get out on the trail. Open daily from 10am, come along and discover a new way to enjoy nature on two wheels. Last hire is at 2pm and all equipment must be returned by 4pm at the latest.

Park Run

All are welcome to join Blickling parkrun on a Saturday morning at 9am. This group of runners meet each week, with ablilities varying from beginners to the more advanced.

Participants enjoy a Night Run event at Blickling Estate.

Join us for Night Run at Blickling Estate, organised in partnership with Cotswold Outdoor. If you've ever wanted to run around the estate at night, or explore ancient woodlands after dark, then Night Run gives you the chance. Whether you're a walker, first-time runner or experienced off-roader, come and join the fun...

 

Blickling Bounders

Join our friendly dog walking group every Monday at 10am. It's a great atmosphere and a good opportunity to discuss your pets with likeminded owners. We request that all dog walkers respect other park users and keep their four-legged friend under close control at all times. We look forward to seeing you.

Relax and go fishing 

Join us at Blickling Lake for an opportunity to relax and enjoy some winter fishing. Our new fishing platforms are perfect for setting up and making yourself comfortable. The lake is well stocked and a popular spot to observe local wildlife. Our fishing season runs from June to March and is a suitable location for all ages and abilities.

Tickets are available from the bailiff:

Adults: £7 (max. two rods) | Season ticket: £90

Concessions: £5 (max. two rods) | Season ticket: £55

Car parking is free for National Trust members, however there is a £5 charge to park in any car park on the Blickling Estate for non-members.  Please note the machines only take coins.
