Beat the blues at Blickling
We all know how dull and depressing the winter months can be, so we've put together a list of our top things to do, to get you through the darkest days of winter.
Book a break away
A popular holiday destination, East Anglia is a region of contrasts and character. With spectacular coastlines and beautiful landscapes, it’s easy to see why people come to this little slice of heaven. So whether it's a summer party with friends, an Easter family break or a cosy weekend away for two, get away from it all in one of our holiday cottages.
There's plenty of evidence around to show how exercise makes you feel better, both mentally and physically, so why not join the Blickling parkrun on a Saturday morning at 9am. There's a group of around 100 runners now who come each week, from beginners to the more advanced. Whatever your level, you're always very welcome.
If running isn't your thing, then what about joining a walking group? Walking for health is an initiative set up to support people to get active and stay active. Blickling Estate is often the venue for the free health walks. The walks start at 10:30am and vary between 2-4 miles. Please check their website for further details or call 01603 897193.
We also offer a group dog walk with the Blickling Bounders every Monday at 10am. It's a great atmosphere and a good opportunity to discuss your pets with likeminded owners. We request that all dog walkers respect other park users and keep their four-legged friend under close control at all times. We look forward to seeing you.
Enjoy some winter colour
It always lifts the spirits to see a splash of colour in the garden. Get inspired for some winter colour in your own garden with a wander around the Dell and Orangery garden, as the snowdrops, early daffodils and hellebores appear.
Join us any day of the week
From the 1st January the house is open everyday from10.30am. However, the gardens, parkland, cafes and shops are also open on a daily basis from 10am-3.30pm, so whether you're beating the Monday blues, the Friday blues or the weekend blues, perhaps a wander in the garden or a latte in the cafe will help. There's always the January sales in the shop to make you feel better, with some great bargains to be had, or perhaps a little peek in the bookshop to find a forgotten gem to curl up with.
Relax and go fishing
Join us at Blickling lake for an opportunity to relax and enjoy some winter fishing. Our new fishing platforms are perfect for setting up and making yourself comfortable.
