Explore Ickworth this New Year

Winter Fun

Blow away the cobwebs and explore everything Ickworth has to offer this New Year. From winter welly walks through carpets of snowdrops to half term fun and activities, there is something for everyone.

Once again this year, Ickworth is giving you the chance to go behind the doors of a great house that was traditionally ‘put to bed’ for winter. In the weekdays, discover the stories behind the great house with daily tours, including our conservation tours which will give you a glimpse of the work that goes on to ensure the House and its Collection is protected for years to come. At the weekends, the Servants Quarters' are open for exploration at your own pace.  Get to know life below stairs by exploring the finishing kitchen and rooting around in the cupboard drawers or by reading the letters in the Estate Office.

This January, for Living History, whilst the family are away the servants are using the quiet time to check their stock levels and prepare for the year. The Housekeeper and Head Cook are interviewing new girls for the position of Housemaid but will any of the girls meet their exacting standards?
