Scone recipes to try at home
We're probably as well known for our scones, as the places we care for. Here we have a selection of classic scone recipes, as well as some more unusual flavours to try at home, all of which have been inspired by the places that you're helping to support.


Lemon and poppy seed scones
The lemon trees in Ickworth's Orangery were the inspiration for these scones. Top with pumpkin seeds and lemon juice for a refreshing twist.

Simnel cake scones
Do you enjoy eating simnel cake at Easter? The catering team at Ickworth have come up with a slight twist on this traditional cake with their simnel cake scone.

Wild garlic scones
Wild garlic is grown in abundance at Ickworth in the spring and was the inspiration for this recipe. Top with cream cheese and chilli jam for a mouth watering treat.

Summer berry scones
A treat to tempt you during the summer months, these scones are made with fresh berries from Ickworth's walled garden. But you can make them too, with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blackcurrants and red currents.

Rhubarb and custard scones
Inspired by rhubarb grown in the Walled Garden at Ickworth, this recipe is a great way of using it up if you've got a glut (or are just a big fan).

Cranberry and orange scones
Dunwich Heath is renowned for its scones! These lovely zesty scones are perfect served warm with butter for a winter afternoon treat.
