Summer wildlife on the South Downs
Summer is a time of plenty as the downs flower en masse, butterflies are floating around and birds are nesting in the scrub and on the grasslands. Blue seas shimmer at Birling Gap as snowy white kittiwakes nest precariously on the cliff face, whilst at Slindon rare purple emperor butterflies can be spotted high amongst the trees. It's a perfect time to take a stroll and discover all the natural wonders the South Downs has to offer.
