Best known for being the first woman - and the youngest person ever - to row solo across the Indian Ocean in 2009 she was awarded an MBE in the 2011 Birthday Honours for services to rowing, conservation and charity.
Her biggest adventure was yet to come. In November 2015 Sarah wrapped up her London2London:Via the World expedition, an attempt to row, cycle and kayak 25,000 miles around the Northern Hemisphere (during which she became the first woman to row solo across the mid-Pacific, travelling West to East from Japan to Alaska). The journey took four and a half years and was all the richer for not turning out exactly as planned.
Since finishing this extraordinary challenge, Sarah has become a bestselling author and motivational speaker, an ambassador and patron of a number of charities, and remains dedicated to encouraging people outside and enabling young people to access adventure.
